ACSS 315 Tuesday 2/6/20
Hi Everyone,
With the easing of restrictions, The Australian Country Songwriters Show will be cutting back to one show per week from Tuesday 2 June, to make room for our usual Wednesday evening presenter, Tubby Dyer.
It has been great to have the extra time and to be able to play more of everyone’s great music. Unfortunately, we’ll now have to make some drastic cuts to the playlist. Sorry to those who have missed out this week, but we’ll try to rotate as many of our favourite songs as we can, going forward.
We have new (to the show) music this week from: Dan Higgins; Jed Zarb; and The Cartwheels.
Our Top 10 Most Requested Songs for this week are: 1. Brett Clarke, I Wanna Be That Man; 2. Melissa Robertson, Wouldn’t Be Without You; 3. Lance Birrell, I Believe In Beer; 4. Robert Ross, Breathless; 5. Shelly Jones Band, Who Was The Dancing Man; 6. Della Harris, Raining On My Wedding Day; 7. Andy Penkow, Chasing The Sun; 8. Vanessa Bourne, Lyin’ Cheatin’ Heart; 9. Sandy Louise, Skinny Jeans; and 10. Vanessa Delaine, How Can He Love You.
Our Featured Artists this week are The Cartwheels, a family trio from Victoria, comprising Dave Patterson, Wendy Phypers and their son Charley Phypers. The Cartwheels have a new self-titled album out, and we will be playing three songs from the album, in the second hour of the show.
Our Flashback Track from the 2015 play list for the show will be from Kathy Coleman; our Featured Instrumental will be from The Spurs; our Featured International Artist will be Canadian country singer, Tracy Millar; and our Featured Indigenous Artists will be the great Warren H Williams.
Our Emerging Talent segment will feature songs from Bella MacKenzie; Jake Davey; and Abbie Ferris.
Our Country Ballads segment will feature songs from Lloyd Back; Geoff Williams; and Watling & Bates.
So, the play list will be:
First Hour: Vanessa Delaine; Sandy Louise; Vanessa Bourne; Andy Penkow; Della Harris; Shelly Jones Band; Robert Ross; Lance Birrell; Melissa Robertson; Brett Clarke; Dan Higgins; Darlinghurst; The Silverline; and Gareth Leach & Michaela Jenke.
